Brookside, Kansas City · Living Room

The 1928 Brookside Tudor Revival

The Challenge: The homeowners loved their home's original plaster mouldings and leaded glass windows, but struggled with a cavernous living room that felt cold, formal, and underutilized.

The Solution: We grounded the space with a large vintage Persian wool rug, custom performance linen seating, and paired them with a solid 1960s walnut credenza and antique brass task lighting.

Standout Vintage Find 1960s Solid Walnut Credenza with brass bow-tie joinery · Discovered at an estate sale in Mission Hills · Restored with hand-rubbed oil.

The 1954 Prairie Village Mid-Century Ranch

The Challenge: A low-ceilinged dining area that felt disconnected from the rest of the ranch layout, with harsh glare from an unshaded window.

The Solution: We sourced a vintage Danish teak dining table with cane-back chairs, added Belgian linen Roman shades to soften daylight, and hung a vintage woven pendant light that anchors evening dinner parties.

Standout Vintage Find 1958 Danish Teak Extension Dining Table by Niels Møller · Sourced from a private collection in Leawood · Finished in beeswax.

The 1905 Hyde Park Victorian Parlor

The Challenge: Beautiful 10-foot ceilings and pocket doors, but the room was cluttered with mismatched bookshelves and poor task lighting.

The Solution: We styled the existing built-ins with antique books, stoneware pottery, and oil landscapes, anchored the room with a deep velvet sofa, and added an antique partner desk for a moody home office nook.

Standout Vintage Find Early 20th Century French Brass Floor Lamp & Signed Oil Landscape · Sourced at an estate auction in Liberty, MO.
